Las Cruces Setting Records For Traffic Tickets
Be careful if you drive in Las Cruces. I don't know if there's a genuine, world record for cops writing traffic tickets but, if so, LCPD is practicing hard to win it.
The Las Cruces Police Department has conducted several operations lately where they really doubled down on handing out traffic tickets. The most recent one saw over 50 citations handed out in 1 hour.
Believe it or not, as crazy as that is, it's not the most they've written in a 60 minute period. LCPD says more operations like this are coming too so, heads up LC.
The LCPD operation on December 3rd saw 50 tickets written in an hour but that's not the most they've handed out in an hour in recent history. Last October, they wrote 61 in an hour.
Back in August, they wrote 46 in an hour and they say more of these ticket blitzes are coming. The December onslaught totaled 54 tickets for things like driving without a license and not coming to a complete stop. Most were for:
- 27 for speeding
- 15 for having no vehicle registration
- 6 for driving without proof of insurance
This last one started at 8am on Sonoma Ranch Blvd, between Golf Club Rd and Camino Coyote. There's no telling what time of day or where the next one will happen so, watch out.
With the holidays here, it's easy to get distracted and wind up with a ticket that could cost you money or spike your insurance rates and, ain't nobody got time 'fer 'dat. Be careful.

I'm sure EPPD will also have their eyes extra wide open over the holidays and both cities will surely go on super high alert for drunk drivers so, plan ahead and have a designated driver if you're hitting any holiday parties.
