Ok, maybe not a million ... I sort of borrowed that from a movie title. There really are several ways to say hi around here though.

The movie was A Million Ways To Die In The West and it's hysterical. It's also, in true Seth McFarlane style, probably something you don't want to watch around Gramma or your Preacher.

Even the trailer, (watch above), shouldn't be seen by certain folks. Totally NSFW.

Anyway, enough about the movie.

There are also a lot of ways to say hi in the west.

You can be super formal and approach someone with something like Good Morning, (or afternoon, evening, whatever), Sir or Ma'am; how are you today? On a more casual note, you can say hello. Or Hi. "How 'ya doing?" also works.

How Do You Say Hi In Spanish?

Being on the border, there are numerous Spanish greetings like Buenos Dias, (good morning), Buenos Tardes, (good afternoon), or Buenos Noches. (Good night or evening, depending on the time.)

"Hola" is a quick and simple "hello" while, (depending on how well you know the person), "como esta gue?" works too ".(Careful, that's akin to "what's up A__hole?")

Then, there's the official, Texas hello. One simple word that seems exclusive to Texans - Howdy.

Nowadays, “howdy” is firmly planted in the Texas lexicon, or, if you will, the Texicon, right up there at the top of a long list that includes “fixin’,” “tump,” “y’all,” and “yahoo,” among many others. - Texas Monthly

It's even the official greeting of Texas A & M University. Really, it is.

I use it all the time. So ... native Texan or newcomer ... if you want to truly blend, there's your first step. Just say "Howdy".
