High Winds in El Paso Cause Power Outages All Around Town
The winds that occurred on Monday, March 22 were quite damaging. None of us enjoy a bad weather day since we all usually stay cooped up at home. There's a meme that Texans will find very humorous and speaks truth to some Texans.
It's the one that mentions how Covid can't get us to stay in and Texas weather says "hold my beer" which is relatable on so many levels. Well, no one in their right mind would want to be out in the weather we experienced on Monday. It was so ugly outside that the high winds caused some ruckus around town.
First, one area to start with was right here at the radio station. We're all working doing our thing when all of a sudden power goes out, we're in the dark, and we lost our wifi, and we go off the air. The weather was so bad on Monday that we stayed off the air for quite a while.
We had our power outage around 2:30 pm and lasted until 3:40 pm. Another area that encountered a power outage was on Stanton St. and E. University Ave. The street lights went out in just that particular area. It was complicated for drivers since some people wouldn't stop to give another car a chance to turn or continue straight.
But the Westside wasn't the only area the winds decided to wreak havoc, the winds knocked down some poles near Kastrin Street in the Lower Valley. Let me know what keeps you cooped up at home in the poll below.
