Texas may know football, barbecue and big parties. But apparently, nobody warned Dallas about England fans.

Just earlier this week, we were talking about Japanese soccer fans earning praise for staying behind and helping clean up stadiums in Texas after matches. England supporters had a slightly different approach. They reportedly drank about 5,000 beers and ran up nearly $40,000 worth of tabs at a Dallas pub.

As the World Cup continues bringing fans from around the globe to Texas, this may be one of the tournament's most memorable culture clashes yet.

Dallas Got an Introduction to English Soccer Culture

The gathering happened at The Londoner Pub in Dallas ahead of England's World Cup match against Croatia.

The pub reportedly expected around 200 people. Instead, hundreds of England supporters showed up wearing team jerseys, singing songs and packing the place shoulder-to-shoulder. Photos and videos from the scene made it look like someone had picked up a neighborhood pub from London and dropped it right into North Texas.

And by the end of the night, reports claimed fans had powered through around 5,000 beers.

No, England Fans Were Not Kicked Out

Rumors quickly spread online that England supporters had been kicked out of the pub after drinking thousands of beers.

According to attorney Charlotte Tate, that's not what happened.

Police did respond after more people than expected arrived, but no one was removed from the bar. Instead, the pub stopped letting people inside around 10 p.m. because it had reached capacity.

That didn't stop some fans from leaving frustrated. Several supporters who arrived later in the evening reportedly found themselves stuck outside and unable to get in because the place was simply too packed.

That's a lot less dramatic than getting kicked out, but it's probably still disappointing when you've shown up ready to watch England and celebrate with fellow fans.

Texas Is Discovering That Every Soccer Culture Is Different

One of the coolest parts of hosting the World Cup has been watching different soccer traditions arrive in Texas.

Some fans celebrate by cleaning the stands. Others bring drums and chants that never seem to end. And apparently, some supporters can turn an ordinary Dallas pub into the hottest ticket in town before kickoff even begins.

If nothing else, Texas is getting an unforgettable lesson in how differently the world experiences soccer.

And if England keeps winning, Dallas bars may want to start stocking up now!
