The Texas Staples Winning Over World Cup Fans
The World Cup is finally here!
As matches kick off across the United States today, thousands of international soccer fans are getting their first taste of America. And while they're here for the games, many are also discovering something Texans have known for years: some of America's best experiences come in the form of giant gas stations, late-night diners and an unhealthy amount of ranch dressing.
And if recent social media posts are any indication, some World Cup visitors are becoming honorary Texans one stop at a time.
World Cup Fans Are Learning Why Texans Love Buc-ee's
One of the most entertaining World Cup travel diaries has come from a German fan named Freddy, who has been documenting his first trip to America.
His reaction to Buc-ee's may be the most relatable thing ever posted by a first-time visitor:
Texans already know Buc-ee's is more than a gas station. It's a road trip destination packed with brisket, Beaver Nuggets, jerky and enough snacks to feed an army- of course it was a must-stop on his trip!

Even better, Freddy is reportedly heading to Houston, where Germany plays on Sunday, meaning he's about to get an even bigger taste of Texas.
Waffle House And Taco Bell Are Winning Over Visitors Too
Buc-ee's wasn't Freddy's only American discovery.
He also shared his amazement at Walmart, called Taco Bell "The Holy Land," and gave a 1 a.m. Waffle House visit a perfect 10 out of 10.
Texans know some of the best travel memories aren't made at famous landmarks. They're made over hash browns at midnight or during an unplanned stop for tacos on a road trip- a pretty solid introduction to America!
And his most recent finding was so surreal to him- we know it as a Bass Pro Shop!
Ranch Dressing Is Creating New Fans
Another international visitor, a Swedish woman named Elsa, recently discovered ranch dressing and quickly became a fan, and joked that Europe needs ranch immediately.
It's hard to argue with her.
The World Cup is introducing visitors to more than just American soccer stadiums.
It's introducing them to the everyday experiences millions of Americans enjoy, from Buc-ee's and Waffle House to Taco Bell and ranch dressing. And while not all of those experiences are uniquely Texan, they're all things Texans can appreciate.
