Summer's coming, (officially, unofficially I think it started in March), and it's gonna be a hot one. No surprise there but if you're new to summer in the 915, don't leave these things in your car.

The last couple of summers have seen record breaking temps in the Sun City and Summer, 2026 could well set some more. That remains to be seen but, even if we have a "normal" summer, it's going tp get hot AF around here so make sure you don't leave any of these things in your ride.

The Farmer's Almanac says we're looking at a warmer than average summer here in the southwest and across the USA in general. That means we have to be careful what we leave where.

Things Not To Leave In Your Car During An El Paso Summer

First of all, no people, no pets. That's just dumb. Unless you have the AC running, (on high no less), and a responsible adult present, this could be disastrous. Temps inside a vehicle can top 130 degrees within half an hour. Cracking a window doesn't do s**t.

There are a few other things I strongly suggest you keep some where cooler than your car.

Records - I did this once on a day when it wasn't even super hot and my album got super warped. Vinyl's making a comeback and records aren't exactly cheap so, think.

Anything that's naturally gooey. No candy, no gum and, absolutely, don't leave the beer in the car. Even the drive home may get it up a degree or two so drive safely but swiftly back to your fridge. Let's keep those mountains blue.

Plastic - Anything plastic ... buttons, toys, cups, whatever ... may not hold up at 130 degrees.

Baked Food - If you buy something freshly baked, it may be overdone by the time you get back to your 200 degree car. At the very least, your icing's gonna be wrecked.

Speaking Of Baked ...

Pot - As hot as it gets around here, you don't want to melt your gummies. For that matter, your bud may burst into flame in our heat.

Trouble with this is, unless you're over in New Mexico, walking around with a bunch of pot in your pocket could get you in trouble. Be careful out there.
