A Borderland Favorite Snack Is Now Conveniently Available in Stores
Everyone in El Paso definitely knows what elote en vaso is; it's corn in a cup. But as we all know, El Paso doesn't just do basic snacks. We elevate our snacks and then turn the elote en vaso into this.
Whether this is considered hood rat or not is up for debate, however, a simple corn in a cup can definitely hit the spot when the munchies hit.
Now, if you want your very own corn in a cup, you don't even have to hunt down your favorite elotero because to my surprise, I found something at my nearest Food King that surprised me!
That's right, corn in a cup can now be conveniently found in stores ready for you to prepare at home. I know what you're thinking; technically corn in a cup has always been available for you to buy at stores. But this is the first time I see an actual corn in a cup DIY kit! So, of course, I bought one!
As you can see, the kit comes with all you need; the white grain corn (it HAS to be white corn- sweet yellow corn just ISN'T the same!) chili pepper season and a hot and spicy dressing.
I gave this a try to see if it was worth cheating on my elotero, and I'll admit I was skeptical at first. Well, let's just say was right to be skeptical! The dressing, although pretty good, just could not replace the actual butter and mayonnaise used in an authentic corn in a cup! Also, it was missing the hot sauce! This was a solid 5/10.
You can give this try and see if it's better than your elotero!
