Earlier today, the El Paso Chihuahuas released their new hat and jersey for this weekend's home series. The Stars and Stripes look will be worn beginning tomorrow night against the Oklahoma City Dodgers.

The Stars and Stripes jerseys will accompany three nights of postgame Fireworks Spectacular, choreographed to patriotic music. The Chihuahuas auction for the game-worn Stars and Stripes jerseys went live at noon today and it will conclude on the final out of the game on July 3rd. Proceeds from the auction will benefit El Paso area non-profit organizations. Fans can view the jerseys up for auction and participate by texting “BID” to (844) 311-5007.

The Stars and Stripes jersey and cap is always one of my favorite uniform combinations during every Chihuahuas season. The cap mirrors what Major League Baseball will be wearing this weekend, since MLB took over operating Minor League Baseball last year.

More good news for Chihuahuas fans. The caps will be made available in the Chihuahuas Team Shop beginning tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. when gates open. Fans must have a ticket to Friday’s game to be eligible to purchase the cap. Sales will be made available to the public beginning Saturday morning during regular team shop hours. The Chihuahuas Team Shop is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

My only disappointment is that the only Stars and Stripes cap available to the public is the New Era 59FIFTY fitted version and not the 39THIRTY stretch version. I know that I am in the minority since most fans want to wear the exact same cap that they see on the field. One day, I hope that MLB expands these awesome caps to the stretch fit.
