The long Labor Day Weekend is coming up fast. A recent World Atlas article named the 8 best Texas spots for a weekend getaway and one is close to El Paso.

Labor Day Weekend is summers' traditional last hurrah and if you're looking for somewhere special to go enjoy honoring laborers by not laboring, check out the places named in this top 8. One is a beautiful, (kind of spooky), town just a couple of hours east of El Paso.

World Atlas compiled a list of the best towns in Texas for a weekend getaway. Long weekend or not, these places are all beautiful, each with its own cool things, quirks, history and "must sees".

The El Paso neighbor that made the list is Marfa, Texas. Located a little under 300 miles from the 915, it's an easy drive. Just take I-10 east to US 90 ... which is Texas' very own, (much cooler) Route 66 ... and you're there.

What Is There To Do In Marfa?

Lots. From cool art, brilliant artists and music festivals to the world's smallest Prada store ... don't worry about pricing, nothing there is for sale ... you'll find lots of interesting things to see and do.

If you're a fan of spooky stuff, check out the Marfa Mystery Lights. Floating orbs of light that appear randomly and have yet to be explained by anyone. Not even a NASA, aerospace engineer was able to get to the bottom of these things.

Plus, nearby, you'll find historic Fort Davis, the McDonald Observatory, (which made a list of cool places released by the Smithsonian), Big Bend National Park and loads more. You don't have to wait for a special occasion or holiday to visit either, Marfa is there 24/7.
