El Bronco Swap Meet on Alameda is set to reopen on Saturday, September 30 once again after it was forced to shut down in early 2020 for code and safety violations.

You can read all about it's grand reopening here. El Bronco shut down just before the pandemic, and while the rest of the world eventually followed and shut down as well, we never saw a return to the Bronco anymore. But all that changes on September 30 as may El Pasoans were delighted to hear about the reopening.

It looks like we can expect a full return to the things that made El Bronco iconic like the local vendors and, of course, the food and music!

But what was it about El Bronco that made it so iconic?! I can't explain it, but I know for sure I loved to go there on Saturdays and get myself a tiger's blood raspa and some papas locas while I looked around!

So I decided to ask fellow El Pasoans on what they're looking forward to when it finally reopens.

Of course, there were a few people who were hatin' and said they wouldn't be going back. But many who were looking forward to it had the same response: the food! The hot dogs, the tacos, the gorditas and the papas espirales! I don't know what it is about the papas espirales, but El Bronco really perfected them!

All in all, El Pasoans are happy to see the vendors and food- which is truly the reasons that made El Bronco iconic. Support local! Now, if only they could do something about that parking lot...
