Police say 31 year old Juan Morgan Munoz was also drunk when the fatality occurred.  Thirty minutes after the crash, Munoz finally called 911 to report what had happened. Police say he admitted that he had hit someone with his BMW near 1-35 but then continued to drive about a mile to his workplace, a Maaco Auto Body Shop.

In the Maaco parking lot police say they found the BMW with “a hole in the front passenger windshield” and “an entire human arm on the front passenger seat”.

Also, blood. Lots and lots of blood.

Despite his two previous convictions (which he was still on probation for) Munoz told police he was not drunk. He told them he had been to Hooters Friday evening but had only had one shot of Patron earlier in the afternoon.

Cops were suspicious, though, as they say Munoz had “glassy/watery eyes, slurred speech and the strong odor of alcohol” when they talked to him.

A breathalyzer test showed his blood alcohol as .179, which is more than twice the legal limit.

Before being booked into the Dallas County jail, Munoz did give a blood sample. According to the arrest affidavit, he told detention officers that he DID have cocaine in his system.

Why do you think he waited 30 minutes to call 911? Do people think they can “sober up” if they take enough time? Was he thinking about using the body shop to do a cover up? Also, what went through his mind to make him finally decide to call the police?

Dallas police have not identified the victim. They have also not given details about the location and condition of the rest of the victims body.
