Remember the Arizona Theme Park Centered Around the Classic Show ‘The Flintstones’
You'll find plenty of intriguing of roadside attractions in the state of Arizona but perhaps one of the most intriguing amusement parks that you would've found near the Grand Canyon was found in Williams, Arizona. At the corner of Route 64 & U.S. Route 180 is the one and only...Bedrock City. And yes it's exactly what you think it is: an amusement park all dedicated to the Hanna Barbera cartoon, The Flintstones.
Here's a little history about Arizona's Bedrock City
The park originally opened up in 1972, the owners of Bedrock City actually made a 2nd location in Arizona after opening up near Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. The park consisted of...well pretty much what you would expect from a Flintstones themed amusement park: you'd find characters, statues & rides all based on familiar characters from the show.
The Bedrock City park originally closed in 2019; HOWEVER, the park HAS reopened under a new name. The new name is called Raptor Ranch. According to the park's official website, they've kept many of the older signs, rides & original buildings to preserve what the park looked like in the 70s.
What's amazing is the amount of old footage you can find OF Bedrock City online; one user on YouTube even uploaded their own home footage during a trip to the park back in June of 1991.
This isn't the only time a theme park existed and was centered around Hanna-Barbera content; there was an amusement park in Texas that was centered ENTIRELY around Hanna-Barbera cartoons. You can read more about that story here.
