Flying From El Paso With Marijuana? Better Read This
If you're flying out of El Paso and feel like taking a little mota along for the ride, you should know that TSA just changed their policy on that. It's ok now - for some people ...
Traveling by air is stressful on a good day. Even a smooth trip still means waiting in lines and going through that whole mini strip down for the Transportation Safety Administration, (TSA), peeps.
Pot's still illegal in Texas, (and sadly, probably always will be), but if you pay a visit to Sunland Park before you depart, you may be ok to fly with it. Just don't actually smoke it in the airport or, especially, on the plane. Those are both big time no smoking, (anything), areas.
The TSA just, kinda on the downlow, changed their policy on flying with weed. Be it edibles or grass, It's now ok - if you are a medical marijuana card holder. Otherwise, probably not.
The TSA quietly updated its website’s listed policy last month to reaffirm that “medical marijuana” can be included in both carry-on and checked bags. The administration’s April 27 update added that its security procedures are focused on security threats, not drugs. - sfgate.com
Why Would TSA Ignore Marijuana?
Basically, because reporting you and your wacky tobacky creates extra work, holdups and other hassles that TSA agents really don't want to get into.
That means if TSA officers catch a passenger with cannabis, they may refer them to a state or federal officer to decide if any further action is required. - sfgate.com

Note the word "may" in that quote. It's "may" not "will" or "must". A lawyer in San Francisco told sfgate.com that he hadn't had an airport pot case since 2017. Still though, playing the odds on this matter is a bet you don't want to lose.
Who Can Fly With Marijuana?
I said "probably not" earlier because, if you don't have a medical card and you get caught, what happens next depends on the TSA agent. They can either ignore it or notify a local cop that you have it. Remember, even if you're traveling from one legal state to another legal state, pot is still illegal at the federal level.
Size Matters
The amount of grass you have can also determine what happens next. Card or no card, there are limits and the more pot you have, the more likely they're going to rat you out.
