Baseball to Start Testing Robo-Umps

It's no secret baseball is struggling to find ways to make the game more appealing. They are making lots of changes to speed up the game. While the pitch clock hasn't been incorporated into the Majors yet Minor League Baseball has, and it's sped up the time of games.

One thing that has been talked about is using computers to call balls and strikes in games. Major League Baseball just announced an agreement with the Atlantic League to implement changes so they can see the effects of potential future changes for the Majors.

They didn't specifically say what changes would be put in place but pitch tracking technology will be installed in Atlantic League ballparks and that Major League Baseball could experiment with robotic umpires call balls and strikes in the independent league.

Another change that is being tossed around is moving the pitching mound back to see how that affects the game.
