If you're planning to visit Balmorhea this summer, read this first!

Balmorhea State Park, the world's largest, spring - fed swimming pool, is a popular swimming and diving destination for El Pasoans and peeps from all over the southwest. They're expecting big crowds this summer so, starting Memorial Day Weekend, they're changing their entry policy.

The following message was posted on the parks Facebook page:

Greetings Friends! Over the last 3 years, increasing visitation has exceeded our capacity to provide a high quality visitor experience and protect park resources.

Beginning May 27, Balmorhea State Park will limit day-use visitation to 1,300 people. We will sell 1,000 day-use passes starting at 8:00 AM. The next 300 visitors will receive a pre-counted slip allowing them to return at 3:00 PM. Visitors with camping or hotel reservations will still be allowed in.

So, if you're going, either reserve a campsite/hotel room or get there early!  Balmorhea is about 3 hours from El Paso, click here for directions. For other questions, visit their website or call (432) 375-2370.
