Former UTEP linebacker and current NFL free agent Alvin Jones was spotted Friday morning at the Green Bay rookie minicamp for an NFL tryout, as reported by Packers beat writers.

Alvin, the twin brother of Packers star tailback Aaron Jones, previously underwent a tryout with Green Bay on Oct. 15. Reports suggested that Alvin did not earn a spot due to the team's need for an offensive lineman at the time. Both sides obviously kept in touch and now the UTEP and Burges alum has another shot.

When the twin brothers starred at UTEP, Alvin was a top player on the defense from 2014-17. His 343 career tackles with the Miners are second-most in program history since the 2000 season while his 40.0 career tackles for loss rank third and 15.0 sacks tie for fourth at UTEP. He earned All C-USA honors three times during his career.

Upon graduating from UTEP, Alvin went undrafted and signed with the Baltimore Ravens. He dazzled in preseason matchups for the Ravens but was waived after an injury setback. Alvin and Aaron are represented by Drew Rosenhaus, who signed as an agent for both of the brothers back in December.

Alvin has been out of the NFL for a pair of seasons now, but if he were to land an opportunity alongside his brother, it could be a perfect way to get back into the league. Injuries have hurt him in the past but when he's healthy, Alvin is a speedy, powerful linebacker that can do damage on defense and in special teams.
