‘Ageless’ 44-Year Old Joe Beimel Signs with San Diego Padres

Every time Cody Decker comes on 600 ESPN El Paso, he always raves about Beimel Elite Athletics and how they have built up the strength of so many young baseball prospects. The poster child for the company is 44-year old Joe Beimel, who has just signed a free agent contract with the San Diego Padres.

Beimel, who broke into the Major Leagues 20 years ago with the Pittsburgh Pirates, has not thrown a big league pitch since the 2015 season. However, he has stayed in great shape and pitched against Team Israel last month as a member of Decker's El Paso Elite team. Now, he will attempt to make his MLB comeback with the Padres.

If Beimel pitches well in San Antonio, then he will most likely come to El Paso and wear a Chihuahuas uniform for the first time in his baseball career. What is even more convenient is that he owns a house in El Paso, since he helps train young ballplayers along with Decker and Brent Dean at The Base. It is a great story to keep an eye on, and I am rooting for Beimel to make it back to the Majors, since he would become the oldest active player by nearly three years (Albert Pujols is currently the oldest at 41 years and 146 days). It also shows that Beimel Elite Athletics can do wonders for anyone, especially someone in his mid-40s who still has the dream to pitch in the Bigs.
