7 Places to Not Miss When Visiting El Paso

For those of us who grew up here in El Paso, it sometimes is hard to see what a great city we live in. For years I was stuck in the "there's nothing to do here" mentality- just as I'm sure many are as well.

However, El Paso is full of things to do and all it takes is you getting out of that mentality and just exploring what the Sun City has to offer. To fully appreciate what we have, all it takes is a simple YouTube search of El Paso and you'll see how great so many vloggers portray El Paso.

But, you've clicked on this article which means you want to know what there is to do from an actual El Pasoan- me! Between spring break and summer break, there's bound to be folks coming in from out of town- and some of your very own family members who will appoint you as a tour guide of the Sun City.

Sure, you can do the usual- take them to Chico's Tacos then drive up to Scenic Drive to see the city at night- or even check out a Chihuahua's or Locomotive game at Southwest University Park. But for the in between moments, here are seven other things you cannot miss out on checking out in El Paso.

Tour the iconic Plaza Theatre in Downtown El Paso

Visit Magoffin Home State Historic Site

The Magoffin Home has been a historical site since it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. It's El Paso's only historic house museum and they not only offer tours but different events. To find out more click here.

Check Out Pancho Villa's Trigger Finger at Dave's Pawn Shop 

Located in the heart of Downtown El Paso on South El Paso St., Dave's Pawn Shop is home to all sorts of unique and strange items, from artifacts to oddities- like Pancho Villa's trigger finger! You have to stop in to check it out!

Visit Keystone Heritage Park and Desert Botanical Gardens

We might be in the desert but we still have a botanical garden! It's over 52 acres of land, perfect for sightseeing and even more amazing for bird-watchers in El Paso, Texas! There is a $2 admission but your admission fee helps to support the upkeep and preservation of the Park. Find out more here.

Head for the Hills! Hike at Franklin Mountains State Park

There's a very avid hiking community in El Paso- and it's no wonder why! The Franklin Mountains have some of the best views of the city below and with Poppy season near, you'll want to take advantage of the sunshine.

Take the family out to Licon Dairy 

The trip out to San Elizario is worth is with all that Licon has to offer; park area, petting zoo, fishing pond, peddle boats and cheese made fresh daily! Find out more here.

Visit John Wesley Hardin's Grave at Concordia Cemetery
