Starting today, traffic in one area of downtown is going to get a little bit worse.

As the Downtown Streetcar Project continues, one particular intersection is about to get even more jacked up. According to El Paso Herald Post online, traffic signals at the intersection of Mesa and Franklin are being replaced. Starting today, March 15th, an "all way" stop will be set up and off duty EPPD officers will help direct traffic. Lane reductions and left turn restrictions remain in effect and the work should take 3 days.

Starting tomorrow, Thursday, March 16:

-- Northbound traffic on Santa Fe Street will be detoured right onto Main Drive, left onto El Paso Street, right onto Franklin Avenue and allowed to proceed north on Oregon Street.

-- Southbound traffic will be allowed to continue flowing on Santa Fe Street through lane restrictions between Franklin Avenue and San Antonio Avenue. -

That mess, ummm work, should take about 3 weeks.
