A New Mexico law firm has noted that Las Cruces is not only second to Albuquerque in size, they're also #2 in car accidents .. especially at these 5 intersections.

The Carabin Shaw law firm, quoting the New Mexico Department Of Transportation, says most of the states 50 most dangerous intersections are in Albuquerque.

Small relief for Las Cruces though as, while having fewer "dangerous" intersections than "Duke City"; Cruces had more fatalities resulting from car wrecks than any other city.

Carabin Shaw says the top 5 New Mexico cities with the most car wrecks are Albuquerque, Las Cruces, Santa Fe, Farmington, and Rio Rancho. When it comes to rollin' through Cruces, these are the 5 intersections you need to really be careful in.

Las Cruces' 5 Most Dangerous Intersections

Elks Drive and Main Street were given a 41% fatality/injury rate while Main Street and Solano had a 37% fatality/injury rate – the 3rd highest in the entire state. The other 3 Las Cruces intersections you need to keep your wits about you in ...according to Carabin Shaw ... were Lohman and Telshor, Lohman and Main, and Main and Highway 70.

I'm careful everywhere in Las Cruces since I don't know it as well as El Paso but especially at intersections. Intersection or no intersection; be careful anywhere on Main street. It was named in 4 of the 5 deadly intersections and ditto for Lohman which showed up twice.

Being careful can save your life AND your money in Cruces as the cops are cracking down and writing tickets like crazy. The cranked out over 60 in 1 single hour during one operation last October and 54 in this one ...

The city of the crosses, (aptly named it seems), has some weird ones where the streets come together at different angles and some where the traffic lights are hard to see or lost among other signals like train crossings.

Honestly, anywhere you drive, expect problems but these intersections especially need your full attention.
