The City Of El Paso Is Finally Fixing Sean Haggerty
It took decades but the City of El Paso Capital Improvement Department is finally moving forward with a plan to (finally) complete a northeast road, giving residents access to their neighbors.
For a couple of decades now, a street in northeast El Paso has remained incomplete, forcing area residents ... emergency personnel too ... to go around a stretch of the road that only spans 1/4 mile or so.
Sean Haggerty is finally going to get its "missing link".
If you travel to the northeast via US-54 north, it ends, (for now), at Sean Haggerty. Bear right and Sean Haggerty takes you to McCombs but not much further, ending near Nathan Bay.
On the other side, it runs from Dyer to Railroad. Between it's end and re-beginning though, it's a no mans land. A dirt road, barricaded at each end, that traverses some open desert and a couple of big arroyos.
Local dirt bikers and off-roaders ... and POS illegal dumpers ... love it but anyone that lives on one side and has to go to the other, must go on a trek:
- From Sean Haggerty/Dyer; they go south on Dyer to Sun Valley, turn right, then come up to Dyer and turn right again and double back to Sean Haggerty.
- Peeps at Sean Haggerty and McCombs, who need to go north on Dyer, reverse that annoying process.

It's a pain in the butt, loooong way around just to avoid a 1/4 of a mile or so gap and residents have been screaming about it forever.
What Is El Paso Doing?
"This project is more than a state-of-the-art overpass improving connectivity from U.S. 54 to Dyer. It is an investment in safety, mobility, and quality of life for Northeast El Paso and the entire region," said Deputy City Manager Yvette Hernandez, P.E.
According to the City, the project will include the construction of a new four-lane bridge, bicycle lanes, ADA-compliant sidewalks, drainage system, street trees and other decorative structures. - kfox
