Why Didn’t El Paso Environmental Services Pick Up My Trash?
Have you ever woken up after trash day just to find out your bin is still filled to the rim?! It has certainly happened to me. We are lucky in our neighborhood to have such a friendly and helpful environmental services rep. (shout out to Eddie!) - but some of you El Pasoans may be wondering just what went wrong the last time your trash or recycling wasn't picked up.
First things first. Here is the location of our El Paso trash and recycling hub.
Environmental Services Department
7968 San Paulo Dr., El Paso TX 79907
If you need to reschedule your collection, call (915) 212-6000 or dial 3-1-1.
Before rescheduling, make sure you know what went wrong. It could be a number of things, so use the list I've provided below to narrow it down.
You can also just take your trash materials directly to the landfill or Citizens Collection Station (CCS). There are 4 CCS located in the greater El Paso Area.
CCS - Northeast access off, 4501 Hondo Pass Dr, Stahala Dr, El Paso, TX 79904
CCS - Eastside at 1034 Pendale Rd, El Paso, TX 79907
El Paso CCS located at 121 Atlantic Rd, El Paso, TX 79922
El Paso CCS located at 3510 Confederate Dr, El Paso, TX 79936
Locations are closed on Sunday/Monday. Hours are 9 am-4 pm. Hours can vary so check before you head there with a van full of garbage.
Why was your GREY or BLUE bin NOT PICKED UP?
1) Was it overflowing?
2) Is your bin TOO CLOSE to a vehicle or an obstacle? (note: it must be at least 5 feet from anything)
3) Is your bin facing the right direction? It should be wheels touching the curb.
4) Is your bin FULLY accessible?
5) Were any of these PROHIBITED ITEMS in your BLUE bin?
-construction
-yard waste
-pizza boxes
-glass
-styrofoam
Need an extra bin? You can request an additional trash bin for a fee of $19 per month. The bin must be retained for at least 6 months.
There are also options on Amazon to purchase your own trash bin, so you don't have to pay a rental fee every month and can keep it with you if you decide to sell your current home.
