The Whole Hog Fundraiser benefiting The Down Syndrome Coalition for El Paso will go on this year but with social distancing compliance. The El Paso Community Foundation has announced the festival will happen on October 10th at its usual location at Keepa Park at 1111 Country Club Road.

The fundraiser will be a drive-through event this year but everything you love about the Whole Hog festival will still be happening. The delicious fall-off-the-bone bar-b-que will be there…to go! Also, the fun events like the cornhole toss and the raffle will still be happening along with the great prizes you can win. Prizes this year include a vacation in Breckinridge, Colorado, a 70 inch flat-screen T.V. and, keeping with the Whole Hog BBQ theme, an assortment of top-of-the-line grills and smokers.

I’ve enjoyed the Whole Hog festival for a number of years. Foremost, it’s for a great cause. The proceeds from the festival go to benefit Every Little Blessing which is a pre-school for area children with Down Syndrome and other learning disabilities along with other programs of the Down Syndrome Coalition for El Paso. Many of the kids are there joining in the fun, manning the booths and making the world a brighter place. There’s always great music (which will also be part of this year’s fundraiser) and the food is a BB-Que lovers dream come true. It doesn’t hurt that Keepa Park is about a quarter mile from my house! It’s just after you cross over the Rio Grande on Country Club Road adjacent to the Southwest Animal Care Clinic.

Support El Paso’s Down syndrome community! Tickets are available here. I’ll see you there October 10th!
