Benito the giraffe, who lived just across the border from El Paso, Texas in Ciudad Juarez has found a new home- and became an international star along the way!

If you live in El Paso, chances are you've heard the story of Benito- and now, the entire world knows about him!

Benito the giraffe came to Ciudad Juarez back in May of 2023 to live at the Parque Central. It was a lonely life for Benito who lived alone; and it didn't take long for many to notice that the conditions that Bentio lived in were not adequate for a giraffe!

Benito originally lived in a zoo in Sinaloa, which has a much more adequate climate for a giraffe. However, the other two giraffes that he lived with were considered a couple, and zookeepers feared the other male would attack the younger Benito. So he was sent to Juarez.

What was meant to be a fun attraction for the people of Juarez, turned into a animal rights fight to bring a better life for the three year old giraffe! And it worked! Benito's story went worldwide that brought more attention to the conditions of Benito's enclosure, eventually leading to an apology from the Governor of Chihuahua!

Just this morning we got notification that Benito endured a nearly 50 hour road trip from Juarez to Puebla to live at the Africam Safari Wildlife and Safari Park!

The director of the Africam Safari Wildlife park gave a very promising update on Benito, who already looked like he was happy at home.

I'm very happy to see that Benito will live a long and beautiful life in Puebla, which makes me want to visit even more!
