UT Austin Students Plan to Protest ‘Campus Carry’ Law with Dildos

A very heated discussion is going on around Texas campuses, even here in El Paso. On Aug. 1, 2016 licensed Texas will be allowed to carry concealed weapons on campuses of public universities. Many students from different universities are planning to protest the law when the 2016 fall school year happens, but the University of Texas at Austin might have the most creative protest.

UT Austin Alumnus Jessica Jin is organizing the protest, Campus (Dildo) Carry for Aug. 24, 2016. The 24-year-old is asking students to attach dildos to their backpacks in hopes of making the point of how ridiculous it is that students can't bring dildos to campus but will soon be able to bring guns.

That's right. You can't bring a dildo on campus. Well you can, but there is a possibility of you receiving a class C Misdemeanor, punishable by a fine up to $500. Jin has warned students about this possibility and has asked them to protest carefully.

Jin has been receiving death threats for creating this protest but that is not stopping her from continuing it, “It should look ridiculous to you,” she said. “That’s the point. This is America. If guns and bloodshed don’t wake people up, a public celebration of sexuality may just do the trick."
