6 Criminally Underrated Restaurants in South Central El Paso
El Paso is full of great restaurants. Just look at the numerous foodie pages on Facebook where many El Pasoans are eager to tell everyone about their favorite El Paso restaurants.
El Paso truly has something for everyone- so much so, that sometimes it feels like you're missing out on some local favorites. If you find yourself in South Central El Paso, then check out these six restaurants that, I believe, are criminally underrated.
Jaime's Hut, 3700 Alameda
Jaime's Hut is that mom and pop shop where you can get menudo or pancakes and no one will look at you weird. Also, the man that always takes my order NEVER writes anything down and he'll get everything right, that's just super impressive to me! Might I suggest: their menudo.
Good Luck Cafe, 3813 Alameda
Just down the road from Jaime's Hut is another great local diner where you can get all your favorites. Might I suggest: their hamburger steak dinner.
Lucky Cafe, 3831 Alameda
And just further down the road from Good Luck and Jaime's Hut is another great diner- Lucky Cafe. Lucky Cafe has been around for so long that I think I've had everything on the menu! Nothing beats their breakfast after midnight. Might I suggest: their breakfast.
El Jacalito, 2130 Myrtle Ave.
Down–home Mexican joint serving traditional fare & breakfasts in an unfussy setting. Might I suggest: their flautas!
Jalisco Cafe, 1029 E 7th Ave.
Jalisco Café is a great place to introduce out of towners to our culture here- a place that definitely makes you feel like you're eating at your abuelitas house. Might I suggest: their menudo!
El Chompas, 1630 Texas Ave.
Good Mexican food, good wait staff and good specials for breakfast and lunch. Might I suggest: their Mexican plate- only I don't have a visual aspect for this one because I ate it before I could take a picture.
