Tuberculosis Testing Resumes For Frank Macias Students

Tuberculosis testing resumes today for second grade students at Frank Macias Elementary School in Horizon City.  Authorities say more than 90 students were tested for the disease late last week.  Those students will get their results back today.

Man Shot In Far East El Paso

One man remains hospitalized following a shooting in Far East El Paso.  Police say officers found the 27 year old victim early yesterday morning at 2300 Tierra Rica.  He was taken to a local hospital with a gunshot wound.  An investigation is ongoing.

Texas AG: No Marriage Licenses If Clerks Have Religious Objections

Texas' attorney general is telling the state's county clerks they don't have to issue same-sex marriage licenses if they have religious objections.  Attorney General Ken Paxton said Sunday that the Supreme Court could not force county clerks to give up their rights under the First Amendment to exercise their religious freedom.  Paxton said clerks did not have to issue licenses, and judges and justices of the peace did not have to perform same-sex marriages if they objected on religious grounds.  The Texas AG says any public official who refuses to comply with Friday's ruling by the Supreme Court can expect to be sued, but said those defendants would have ample support from his office and private lawyers.

Troopers Step Up Enforcement Ahead Of July 4th Holiday

The Texas Department of Public Safety says DWI patrols are increasing statewide ahead of the July 4th holiday period.  Troopers are focusing on high-risk locations at times when alcohol related crashes occur the most often.  Last year, there were more than one-thousand DWI arrests during the same enforcement period that runs this year through July 7th.  There were more than 1,000 people killed in Texas last year as the result of crashes involving drunk drivers.
