A "mondegreen" is a basically a misheard lyric. Like "'Scuse me while I kiss this guy" or "Hold me closer, Tony Danza". It's been a long time since I'd heard a really great one from someone I actually know. A few years ago I thought Volbeat was singing "the wacky warrior" instead of "the Viking warrior" in The Warrior's Call, but this one of Brandon's today is SOOO much funnier.

It turns out that for TWENTY YEARS Brandon though Alanis Morissette was telling Dave Coulier that it wasn't fair to deny her "the cross-eyed bear that you gave to me" in You Oughtta Know. I thought for sure he had to have been joking. But, off the air, he swears on his honor that this is what he thought the lyric was.

If you're at all familiar with the Easter story (not the one about Peter Cottontail) then you know the imagery of "bearing one's cross".  But what Brandon had in mind since 1994 was an image of Dave Coulier winning a stuffed bear that had crossed eyes at the fair, gifting it to Alanis Morissette and then taking it during the break-up, thereby denying her the "cross-eyed bear".
