Things You Need to Know About Early Voting in Texas

Early voting has already started in some states, but in Texas, our early voting begins on Tuesday, October 13th. If you haven't registered to vote, well, it's too late for that. The deadline to register was October 5th. But here are the details you need to know about early voting in Texas.

• Early voting begins on October 13th and ends on October 30th.
  • This may vary though depending on where you live.
• You will be required to show an acceptable form of ID, which includes:
  • A Texas driver's license
  • A Texas election ID certificate
  • A Texas personal ID card
  • A Texas handgun license
  • A US military ID with photo
  • A US citizenship certificate with photograph
  • Forms must be current or expired less than four years
  • If you're 70 or older, your ID can be expired for any length of time as long as the ID is otherwise valid
• If you don't have any of these, you can still vote. One was to do it is to sign a sworn statement that there is a reason why you don't have any of the acceptable forms of ID.
• If you can't provide the sworn statement, you can still vote. You can cast a provisional ballot, but have to make it to the voter registrar's office within 6 days of the election to present one of the forms of ID or submit a temporary affidavit.
