Tuesday's El Paso Times contained an open letter from the mayor of Juarez, Enrique Serrano Escobar, to the writers, producers and stars of the movie SicarioSicario includes a scene that takes place in Juarez and, let's just say, it doesn't paint a pretty picture.

Here's part of what Mayor Escobar's letter says:

"It is regrettable that you profit in such way from the nobility of a bi-national community. Your box office success is despised by the people of Ciudad Juarez, you have denigrated our region and that have acquired a moral commitment to this land. You are invited to visit Ciudad Juarez to really know the city, walk through its streets, greet the people and learn their history, and you can attest that this film is not a true portrait of Ciudad Juarez today. We demand respect, because we have overcome many difficulties to claim the value and image of our Ciudad Juarez today."

You hear, that Emily Blunt? The people of Juarez despise you. So you need to come down here and take a walking tour. Dios mio, that sounds like a found-footage horror film waiting to happen.

One of our listeners asked, "Is NASA demanding an apology because a movie suggested they left Matt Damon stranded on Mars?" Gee, I dunno.

Did Mayor Bloomberg demand an apology after the army nuked New York City and still didn't kill Cloverfield?

Is the U.S. Marine Corps upset that James Cameron suggested they invaded Pandora just to get their hands on all that unobtainium?

Should the UN condemn South Africa for keeping their prawn population in such deplorable slums?

Did the United Association of Paleontologists raise a stink when Ice Age II portrayed dinosaurs living in the ice age? Actually, I'm sure they did. Nerds.

Anyway, you get the idea. Feel free to suggest your own "The Mayor of Juarez Complaining about Sicario is likes" in the comment section.
