Will Texas Walmarts’ Adopt This Crazy New Parking Rule?
Walmart stores in Hawaii have initiated a new parking policy. If it spreads to Texas, some folks are going to have to cough up some cash.
Texas Walmart stores all have pretty big parking lots, loaded with parking spaces. Finding a spot close to the entrance isn't always easy but I doubt anyone has ever NOT found a space at all.
Those spots don't necessarily have to be for customers only. They don't have to be free either.
Walmart stores are usually pretty easy going with their parking lots. They don't really enforce many rules, some will rope off areas for charitable events and most allow overnight parking.
What Is The Hawaiian Policy?
Some people park at Walmart and then shop at other places, join a "carpool" in a different vehicle or walk to their nearby job among other things. That may change if the Hawaiian policy comes to Texas.
In Honolulu, cameras monitor those entering and leaving the lot. After 3 hours, vehicles are charged $3 every 30 minutes up to $48 for the day. Anyone with a balance over $50 could be towed.
Who Can Park At Walmart Overnight?
Anybody, really. Semis, RVs and travel trailers though, take up a lot of room so that makes life much easier for them when they have to stop for the night. Bands too. I've known plenty, (local and professional), who love this perk.
They take advantage of it to rest, restock their bus/van and in some cases, have fun. Some bbq, most, (if spotted), will hang out with fans and others (later at night, if allowed), whip out the acoustics and jam a little.
While the overnight parking policy applies to just about all Walmart stores, you should always check before inviting yourself.
