Remember When the Home of the Dallas Cowboys Hosted a Pro Bowl Game
Before the Super Bowl is here, we always have the Pro Bowl to look forward to seeing. While in recent years, Allegiant Stadium in Vegas & the Camping World Stadium in Orlando has hosted the Pro Bowl, Texas DID indeed host one Pro Bowl game. No it wasn't AT&T Stadium; it was the OLD home of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Stadium.
When did Texas Stadium host the Pro Bowl?
Up until 1973, the Pro Bowl was always held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, but that year the game was moved to Texas Stadium located in Irving, Texas.
This game is known for its all star cast of players with former Pittsburgh Steelers coach, Chuck Noll coaching the AFC & former Dallas Cowboys coach, Tom Landry, coaching the NFC. Some notable players include Joe Greene, Larry Csonka, Calvin Hill, Harold Jackson, John Hadl & of course the MVP of that game...O.J. Simpson who had ran a total of 2,000 rushing yards in a single season. (Hey this was before what happened in the 90s; this was when he was still a running back for the Buffalo Bills).
Ultimately, the AFC would win that year with a final score of 33-28. The AFC would also win the Super Bowl that season (that was the year of the undefeated Miami Dolphins).

While Texas only hosted one Pro Bowl game, several Texas players would be Pro Bowlers
Both the Dallas Cowboys & Houston Texans have seen their share of great Pro Bowlers. Emmitt Smith, Larry Allen, Bob Lilly, Deion Sanders, CeeDee Lamb/ J.J. Watt, Andre Johnson, DeAndre Johnson, Matt Schaub...these names are just a few famous Pro Bowlers for the Cowboys & the Texans.
It's been over 50 years since Texas hosted a Pro Bowl game; let's hope that will change in the near future.
