I don't know about you, but as I've gotten older I've realized, I am not up to date on the current slang words or abbreviations!

I used to take pride in the fact that I was using a term or abbreviation that the older generation just "didn't get". I used to LOL and BRB with the best of them, now, I find myself looking at my young nephews wondering what the heck they're saying! And I know I'm not alone, because Texas residents were doing quite a lot of googling recently!

The experts at Unscramblerer.com have unveiled the top abbreviations that Texans had to look up the most and, I won't lie, I didn't have a clue what some meant- heck, I didn't even know that some of these abbreviations were even being used; hitting my mid-30's has really done a number on me!

By using Google Trends to discover the top trending text abbreviations and Ahrefs to find the number of searches, Unscramblerer found Americas most popular text abbreviations.

So, what are the top ten most searched for abbreviations in Texas? Unscramblerer revealed them to be:

  • PMO - Put me on
  • ICL - I Can't Lie
  • OTP - One true pairing
  • TS - Talk soon
  • NFS - New friends
  • ATP - At this point
  • ASL - As hell
  • HY - Hell yeah
  • GTS - Go to sleep
  • LMK - Let me know

Now I know I'm really getting old because back in my day, "ASL" stood for something completely different! Also, I didn't even know that "put me on" was a thing that needed to be abbreviated, but ICL, a lot of these were definitely a surprise to see.

Other words that Unscramblerer found needed to be searched include: FAFO, which is one that I had been seeing everywhere and was totally confused! It means "F--k around and find out" BTW.

Now that you know what some of these mean, go forth and don't let the Gen Z's laugh at you!
