If you've lived in El Paso all your life, like I have, then you know that a majority of El Pasoans like to party. Not only are we good at partying, we're also good at partying on a budget!  And now we have the data to back it up. A new national report from WalletHub ranks El Paso as one of the most affordable cities in the entire country to have fun, proving what we’ve been saying forever: you don’t need Vegas money to have a good time in the Sun City.

El Paso Shines in WalletHub’s New National Ranking

The 2025 “Most Fun Cities in America” study compares 182 cities across the U.S. and looks at everything from nightlife and dining to recreation and entertainment. While major hotspots like Las Vegas, Orlando, and Miami ran away with the flashy overall “Most Fun” rankings, WalletHub also measured something a lot more relatable for the rest of us: how much it actually costs to enjoy yourself. That’s where El Paso shines.

According to WalletHub, the Sun City placed near the very top of the “Costs” category, ranking as the second-cheapest city in the country to go out, eat out, explore, and have fun without destroying your bank account.

Why El Paso Scores So High for Affordable Fun

At a time when going out in most cities can easily turn into a triple-digit night, El Paso continues to offer a rare combination of affordable food, accessible entertainment, and community events on a budget. It’s the kind of place where grabbing tacos with friends, catching a show, strolling through a festival, or spending a day outdoors doesn’t come with sticker shock.

Whether you’re at a Rhinos game, exploring the Franklin Mountains, or wandering through WinterFest, you can actually enjoy yourself here without worrying what your bank app will look like the next day.

What’s especially interesting is how this contrasts with bigger Texas cities. Austin might have landed in the overall top ten for fun, and Houston and Dallas ranked high too, but none of them matched El Paso’s affordability.

Outsiders may overlook El Paso because we’re not packed with massive theme parks or giant nightclubs on every corner, but people who live here know better. Fun in El Paso feels personal and authentic.
