Texas Is Officially One of the Most Exhausted States
In news that surprises absolutely no one, we're all tired! If your January felt less “new year, new me” and more “new year, new level of exhausted,” this might actually explain why.
New data from nutrition and wellness brand Juice Plus+ analyzed fatigue-related Google searches across the country throughout January and Texas showed some serious signs of energy strain.

This wasn't just “I stayed up too late rewatching episodes of Friends” tired. We’re talking layered tired.
Texas Is Showing Major Signs of Fatigue
Researchers looked at more than 100 search terms, including phrases like “trouble sleeping,” “why can’t I focus,” “extreme tiredness,” and “bad diet.”
Across the board, Texas kept showing up.
When experts created an overall Exhaustion Index, Texas landed among the most fatigued states in the country. And it wasn’t just one category driving it, Texas is tired on every front. Texas ranked high in:
- Nutrition-related energy crashes
- Physical fatigue
- Sleep struggles
- Mental burnout
So basically, we’re not just sleepy; we’re sleepy, stressed, low-energy, and possibly on our third coffee before lunch.

According to registered dietitian Heather Koenig with Juice Plus+, when a state shows elevated signals across mental, physical, sleep, and nutrition categories, it suggests sustained lifestyle strain, not just a bad night’s rest. Which kind of makes sense for January.
Why January Can Drain Texans Fast
January is supposed to be our reset month. New goals. New routines. Fresh starts.
But experts say many people begin the year from an energy deficit instead of a surplus. When sleep, stress, nutrition, and expectations don’t align, fatigue becomes the default.
Add work, family life, and the pressure to suddenly transform your entire routine in 30 day, it takes its toll and it’s not shocking Texans are feeling it.
It’s important to note that this data reflects search behavior not medical diagnoses; but it does show what people are quietly Googling late at night- when we should be sleeping!
And if you’ve felt run down or burned out lately, you’re clearly not alone.
So maybe instead of “new year, new you,” this season calls for “new year, slightly more sleep.”
