Where Texas Ranks Among The Most Pickleball Obsessed States
Pickleball is the hottest sport right now, and it would seem as though the pickleball bug has bitten Texas!
What is Pickleball?
Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. It is played on a smaller court (about the size of a badminton court) with a modified tennis net. Players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated plastic ball (similar to a wiffle ball) over the net. The game can be played in singles or doubles format.
Pickleball is known for being easy to learn, making it popular among all age groups, from kids to seniors. It is rapidly growing in popularity, especially in the U.S., due to its social and recreational appeal.
In a new study conducted by OnlineSolitare.com, they found that Texas ranks as the eight most pickleball-obsessed state with 849.38 searches per 100,000 residents.
I won't lie, I think I've contributed to that search because I have done a lot of pickleball researching; mainly because I didn't know what it was! Now that I do know, I'm starting to see many places around El Paso where you can play some pickleball!
To determine where Texas ranks, OnlineSolitare.com began by compiling a list of relevant search terms from sources like Ahrefs and Google Ads. They collected average monthly search volumes for terms related to pickleball over the past year (as of January 15, 2025), aggregated the data, and normalized it to calculate the number of searches per 100,000 residents.
While the game looks like a bit intense, I have to admit, it also looks fun!
