Wallethub just ranked all 50 states to determine which ones are the most fun. "Fun" is, of course, very subjective so they studied 26 different factors to generate their list.

Wallethub studied each of the 50 United States of America and ranked them by things like the cost of seeing a movie, nightlife options, national parks, theaters an more. They even counted the golf courses.

Texas made the top 10 fun states list, New Mexico did not. On the upside, the land of enchantment wasn't one of the top 10 least fun states either.

As far as the top 10 most fun states list goes, Texas was number 8 with an "entertainment and recreation" rank of  7, a "nightlife" rank of 13 and an overall score of 52.96. No state scored 100. (#1, California, only got a 66.89.)

The "Entertainment & Recreation" category could earn each state up to 80 points while the "Night Life" category was worth up to 20 for a total of 100. A perfect 100, it would seem, is unobtainable since the #1 most fun state didn't even get to 70.

What About New Mexico?

New Mexico did ok, not among the best but not among the worst. They were mid-pack at #28 with an overall score of 36.16, a nightlife rank of 36 and  "entertainment and recreation" rank of 26.

Not all of the measured criteria ... miles of shoreline and marinas or snow skiing/winter sports facilities for example ... applied to every state. You can see all the different data Wallethub used here.
