Being that the USA turns 250 this year, lists like this are extra special. Here's why El Paso should have been top 10, if not #1.

Resonance Consultancy, (whoever the hell they are), ranked America's Best Cities for 2026 and showed El Paso zero love. Texas did claim 2 of the top 10 though.

That's not surprising, we all know Texas rocks, but what is surprising is that the 915 didn't make the cut. You can see the entire list here.

As the USA celebrates its 250th anniversary, rankings like this one score bigger bragging rights and El Paso has more going for it than the "winners". (Texan and non - Texan alike.)

We've been around a lot longer too. 250 years ago, we were already rocking here on the border. Our fellow Texans weren't even around yet.

Texas Cities Named Among USA's Top 10

Dallas and Houston, (of course), made it but the other, (usual), top 10 - er ... Austin ... fell from grace this year. They were just outside the top 10 at #11, you can see the entire list here.

I have no problem with any of those cities but, c'mon - if you want to rank the best US cities, El Paso has to be, (at least), top 10. Compared to the 2 Texas cities that did, (barely), make the top 10, we're way cooler. Here are a, (very), few reasons why ...

 El Paso Vs. Houston

  • We're sunny and dry. No insane humidity that makes you feel like a soaker hose, breathing through a wet towel.
  • They do have NASA but we have private, recreational space flights right up I - 10.
  • No random, unprovoked alligator attacks in the 915. (1 did freeze here though.)
  • We've been here way longer. H - Town was founded in 1836, we've had peeps living her since about 1598. By 1776, we were a pretty thriving community, Houston? I don't think so.

El Paso Vs. Dallas

Dallas is a young, whippersnapper too, founded in 1841. It's also totally flat. Seriously, if you can't see Reunion Tower, good luck getting your bearings. Directions include things like turn left at the big elm tree or "if you pass Walmart, you went too far". I love Dallas but we're better. Sorry.

READ MORE: Filling Up The Rio Grande

We can get across the Rio Grande, (sometimes without even getting our feet wet), pretty much anytime. (Except where it's the border.). Try that with Dallas' Trinity River.

We're also not forever, infamously linked with the Kennedy assassination. Although, we are known for, (somehow), having Pancho Villas trigger finger.

El Paso Vs. Austin

They didn't make the top 10 either so, who cares. Our music and arts scene is way cooler too.

El Paso Strong

Seriously, we have a vibrant downtown area, a killer music and arts scene, amazing restaurants, tons of history and all that Mexico has to offer is right over there. (Beats the heck out of Fort Worth.) Tack on beautiful sunsets, our mountains and amazing adventures to be had here and within a couple of hours drive, we so win.

Game Point

We have legal marijuana. Ok, we don't but Sunland Park does and they're practically in Texas. They sell the hell out of it too and we're buying most of it so, yay El Chuco.
