Two of the Biggest Skateparks in the U.S. Can Be Found in Texas
We know skateboarding was invented in California but it has been adopted and beloved all over the world. California is home to many famous skateparks & skateboarders but Texas also has a love for skateboarding (if you live in El Paso you know that Tony Hawk has included one of our skateparks in one of his DVDs back in 2005, our very first skatepark in the Northeast & El Paso's own Gavin Kish).
Texas is also home to some of the biggest skateparks in the entire country (2 in fact!). One was formerly THE biggest park in the United States.
Where can you find the biggest skateparks in Texas?
If you go to Frisco, Texas, that is the home to the Northeast Community Skatepark, also called the Frisco Skate Park located at 12895 Honey Grove Dr. The park contains everything skaters can find: rails, bowls & half-pipes. The thing that really makes this park unique is the giant half-pipe.
At over 47,000 square feet, it is the 2nd biggest skatepark in the entire state of Texas.
But the biggest skatepark in the whole state belongs to the North Houston Skate Park at 12351 Kuykendahl Road. The park opened in 2014 & currently sits at over 77,000 square feet. It was the record holder for biggest skatepark in the US, until the Lauridsen Skatepark opened in Des Moines in 2021.
Nevertheless, the park is gigantic and Houston natives still love their park. The park is also site to a life-sized statue of skateboarding legend, Steve Olson called "High Noon".
It's certainly possible we COULD see an even bigger skatepark back in Texas, but until then, we have two of the biggest you will find in the entire United States.
