New UTEP head coach Joe Golding injected the Miner fan base with energy during his introductory press conference, as the 20th coach in program history spoke for the first time in front of the El Paso community Wednesday afternoon at the Haskins Center.
Joe Golding, who spent 10 years building Abilene Christian into a Southland Conference basketball power, will fill the Miners' coaching vacancy as the 20th coach in program history.
And just like that, the UTEP men's basketball team is on a three-game winning streak.
After their series against FAU was canceled due to a positive case of COVID-19 within their locker room, the Miners were forced to regroup on a two-day practice turnaround before hosting Charlotte for its final two games of C-USA play...
The program announced they would push their home series against Charlotte to Saturday and Sunday, instead of their originally scheduled Friday-Saturday games.
The Miners needed a split against a quality team but fell short of the feat, as UAB dominated the slumping road team on Saturday (75-60) to sweep the series.
Despite holding onto a lead for the entire game on Friday, the UTEP men’s basketball team played from behind throughout Saturday’s contest, falling 73-55 to LA Tech and splitting another series in C-USA play.
