As I read this story, it only seemed to get stranger. Leticia Arreola was sentenced to 2 years in prison for stealing $332,571.46 in student lunch money from Brownsville ISD. Now you might be thinking she had some crafty plan. Somehow laundered the money like a heist movie.

Not exactly the case. She gained access to the cash through her position as an accounting clerk in the food and nutrition services division. The cash was supposed to be placed in deposit bags and picked up by armored truck. If the money didn't make it on the truck, it was supposed to be dropped off to Arreola.

Well, all of a sudden the bags weren't making it to the trucks at all and ended up with Arreola, who just didn't deposit them. By the way, this went on from 2011 to 2016. How did no one notice over $300,000 missing? At least the guys in Office Space were going to gradually take fractions of pennies. She actually took over $70,000 in 2015 alone.
