2 Snacks That You Can Apparently Only Get at Texas Movie Theaters
It's not unusual to walk into a movie theater here in Texas and order some jalapeños for your popcorn and a pickle to go with your snacks. At some theaters, they even ask you when you order popcorn if you want some jalapeños with it.
We all know this, and for the most part, we all love it, but apparently, this is only a Texas thing!
Pickles in Texas theaters
According to Michael Gibson at Kicks 105 in Lufkin, Texas is the only state where you can get a pickle at a movie theater! That doesn't sound right, huh?
Gibson notes that our favorite snack at movie theaters dates back to the early 1800s when Germans migrated to the Lone Star state who would enjoy pickles to "keep their energy up during long operas". How inventive! And since then, enjoying a pickle has been a Texas thing.
Now, I've never been to a movie theater OUTSIDE of Texas, so I can't test out the theory, but many have said it's true. Can you imagine going to a movie theater and NOT being able to order a pickle?!
Are Jalapeños on Popcorn a Texas Thing Too?
Now, as for the jalapeños on popcorn, I don't know if that is only a Texas thing- but I know for sure that every theater I've been to in El Paso definitely ask if you want jalapeños and at some theaters, they already have the jalapeños right next to the butter, that way you can top off your popcorn!
Jalapeño's on popcorn may not just be limited to Texas, but again, I've never been to a theater outside of Texas, so someone out there will have to update me. For now, let's all just be thankful that here in the Lone Star state we can enjoy some popcorn with jalapeños and a pickle (and if you're like me, throw some Goobers in there too- don't knock it til you try it!).
