Shortcut For Running Late Or Leave Early Using Same Route

We all appreciate a shortcut in life whether it be learning something or avoiding traffic. I am that person to prefer a shortcut out of traffic. Especially the days that luck just isn't on your side. I just have to say bless those hearts that take U.S. 54 to head East on Van Horn exit. For those of you that don't take that route at the busiest times don't know the struggle. They currently have that exit limited to just one lane as you're curving left. In my opinion I believe it would be easier if people took the 601 Spur instead. Earlier this morning proves it has been forever since I have taken that route. It took a good amount of time to finally merge with I-10 East. Since they cut it down to one lane, do you take an alternate route when you're running late or get up earlier to keep your original route?
