Share the Date of Your First Metallica Concert In El Paso
No one could ever forget their first time seeing the greatest heavy metal band, Metallica. El Paso sure has been lucky to have the opportunity for that band to visit a handful of times. There are some lucky people out there that had the chance to see them all 5 times they stopped in El Paso.
Unfortunately, my first and hopefully not my last was when Metallica performed at the Don Haskins Center. Their February 28, 2019 show I like to believe rules over all other past performances they had in El Paso. Now I am not saying this only because this was my first time seeing Metallica but because of the prop effects.
I really enjoyed hearing and seeing Metallica perform "Moth Into Flame" because of the flying light drones swaying over their heads. Unfortunately, I wasn't one of those lucky kids who had parents that would take them to a rock concert. But I am pretty content and satisfied with my first time seeing Metallica in concert in my hometown.
Metallica's first time visiting El Paso, Texas was on March 2, 1985. Their first concert in El Paso took place somewhere I had no idea about. Their first performance was at The Big Apple Night Club that no longer exists.
For their first four shows in El Paso, they had a small gap of time until their next return. Metallica's January 31, 1992 concert would be the last until their next return after a quarter-century plus two years. It is no wonder that after 27 years Metallica's February 28, 2019 concert at Don Haskins Center sold out so quickly.
But you can be a part of another Metallica concert with 95.5 KLAQ on Saturday, May 29. We will be kicking off our Maytallica Mayhem Festival which means a Metallica concert right at home. Plus there will be lots of giveaways that are worth listening to KLAQ on-air, online, or through our KLAQ mobile app. Also, share the date of your first Metallica concert in the poll below.
