There are so many Christmas festivities that are going on throughout the borderland. There is one that will be taking place next weekend at the San Elizario Historic District. On Saturday, December 21, San Elizario Historic District will be holding a Luminaria Festival and Las Posadas Celebration. The Posadas Celebration holds a very important role for the Mexican Christmas celebration. This family-friendly event will get you out of the bah-humbug mood and put you in the Christmas spirit.

If you're taking your children they will enjoy the Christmas Star pinata that will be filled with sweet treats. Not only that, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on-site and ready to take pictures. You can also expect to see some live entertainment while you scope the grounds. Then shortly after the sun goes down San Elizario Historic District plans on lighting over 5,000 luminarias. But they plan on doing their annual bicycle and gift giveaway to wrap up the celebration. There is no admission to the Luminaria Fesitval and Las Posadas Celebration if you plan on attending.
