R.I.P. Sid Haig (AKA Captain Spaulding)

The rock and horror world has lost an icon. Sid Haig, most well known for portraying Captain Spaulding in Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects, and the recently released 3 From Hell, has passed away at the age of 80.

A statement was released over the weekend by Haig's wife:

On Saturday, September 21, 2019, my light, my heart, my true love, my King, the other half of my soul, Sidney, passed from this realm on to the next. He has returned to the Universe, a shining star in her heavens. He was my angel, my husband, my best friend and always will be. He adored his family, his friends and his fans. This came as a shock to all of us.
We, as a family, are asking that our privacy and time to mourn be respected.

Haig took a nasty spill last week and ended up suffering some serious breathing complications. He was moved to the ICU and reports were that he was doing better, but those reports were apparently a bit premature.

I say we celebrate the life of the great Sid Haig by watching  as much as we can with him in it and get some Tutti f***ing Frutti ice cream.
