Puddle of Mudd’s Wes Scantlin Smashes Gear Onstage + Walks Out on Fans Mid-Performance
Puddle of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin seemingly had yet another meltdown during a live performance. At an April 2 show in Scottsdale, Ariz., Scantlin reportedly smashed his own guitar, microphones, and a portion of the drummer's kit. And thanks to fans recording the show, we've got the incident on tape.
On April 18, 2014, Scantlin suffered a similar onstage meltdown in Dallas, reportedly injuring a fan after throwing a microphone into the crowd. Scantlin has been troubled for some time, getting arrested for possession of a controlled substance in January 2012; a drunken airplane altercation that September; on two warrants after being caught speeding in May 2013; for allegedly attacking his ex-wife later that May; for vandalism with a buzz saw and sledgehammer in July 2013; and in December 2013, an arrest warrant was issued for Scantlin after missing a court date. Most recently, Scantlin was arrested in January 2015 for taking a joyride on an airport baggage carousel.
For this latest incident, footage was captured by a fan close to the front of the stage:
