Priest Accused Of Pointing Gun at Boy For Being Cowboys Fan
A New Jersey priest was arrested on Friday for allegedly pointing a gun at an 8-year-old boy in his congregation because the boy said he was a Dallas Cowboys fan.
According to Dallas News, Kevin Carter, 54-year-old priest at St Margaret of Cortona Roman Catholic church in Little Ferry, asked to see the boy in private before the New York Giants-Cowboys game on Sept. 13.
According to witnesses, Carter had the boy stand against a wall and then pointed a musket at him.
Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said "As he raised his weapon and pointed it at the boy, he said 'I'm going to shoot you.'"
Molinelli said "The young boy was apparently a fan of a particular football team, the priest was not. So perhaps we have indication it started out as that. There's no such thing as joking around with a weapon when you're dealing with an 8-year-old kid."
Carter was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated assault by pointing a firearm and was jailed on a 15,000 bond.
The Giants lost to the Cowboys 27-26.
