Police Investigate 2 Explosions At Las Cruces Churches

An investigation is ongoing into 2 separate explosions at a pair of churches in Las Cruces. Police say officers responded to the Calvary Baptist Church in the 1800 block of Locust Street around 8 o'clock yesterday morning after a mailbox was damaged by an explosive device. Several worshipers were inside the church at the time of the explosion, but services had not yet begun.

Police were called to Holy Cross Catholic Church in the 1300 block of North Miranda Street just a few minutes later after an explosive device detonated in a trash bin near the church's front entrance. No injuries have been reported and investigators are trying to determine whether the two explosions are connected.

Indictment Of AG Ken Paxton Could Be Unsealed Today

The charges against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton are expected to be unsealed today. Multiple reports say Paxton is under indictment on securities law violations. Paxton paid a $1,000 fine to the Texas State Securities Board last year for not registering as a lobbyist for an advisory board. Texans for Public Justice filed a criminal complaint against him in Travis County in July of 2014 and then the group re filed it in March in Collin County. Two special prosecutors and the Texas Rangers looked into the case after Collin County DA Greg Willis recused himself. Paxton is expected to surrender today. If convicted Paxton could get 99 years in prison.

Perry Promises To Push Back Against Trump

After his presidential hopes unraveled in a GOP primary debate four years ago, Rick Perry is promising voters will see a different candidate this time around. On 'Fox News Sunday' the former Texas governor also said he's not going to back down from attacking front runner Donald Trump. Rick Perry also said Trump shouldn't be considered a serious candidate. He called negative comments the real estate mogul made about 2008 Republican nominee John McCain an attack on military veterans.
