The petition says the new UTEP President shouldn't get the position due to her record of voting against both student financial aid programs and pro-gay issues.

Former Congresswoman Heather Wilson has been named the new President of the University of Texas at El Paso. However, a Change.org petition says she should not be given the position because of her history of voting against financial aid initiatives like year-round Pell grants and against gay rights matters.  (Read more)

UTEP deserves better.  UTEP and the El Paso community deserve a president that reflects the university’s values and the ability to serve and represent the best interest of all students.

We call on  the Texas Board of Regents to take action before the state-required 21-day waiting period and withdraw Heather Wilson as the sole finalist.
